REVIEW | The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Skin-Sync RX

Does the season make your skin feel dry and itchy? Does having sensitive skin making it harder to find the moisturizer that’s right for you?  I feel the same way and I’m looking for a product that is not that expensive but will help me get through all of these problems. After a long search at the mall, I found The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Skin Sync – RX.

The cold season is here and its time to change my skincare routine. This is the time that I need to focus more on moisturizing my sensitive skin. Yes, it’s a double hit, so I started looking for an effective mid-price product. I went to the mall to check out every shop offering Korean products. I thought I wouldn’t find one until Dr. Belmeur Starter Kit caught my eye.

What is Dr. Belmeur?

  • It is the first cosmeceutical (cosmetics + pharmaceuticals) skincare line by The Face Shop. Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients with medical or drug-like benefits.
  • DR = Professor, Recommendation by experts for healthy skin; BELLE = Beautiful/Beautiful skin; HUMEUR = Feeling, humor/good feeling
  • It is made by mild low irritant plant-based ingredients
  • It uses a custom formula Skin-sync Rx – plant-based components similar to the skin’s structure mixed with other ingredients made as a personalized prescription to address particular skin problems.

There are two options made for different skin types. Daily Repair is dedicated to those with dry and sensitive skin, while Clarifying is for the oily and acne prone skin.

I have dry sensitive skin and the Daily Repair line is recommended for me. Hence, I will review the Daily Repair line. What I love about this product is that it is available in starter kits. This is perfect if you want to try several products without too much spending. We all have the dilemma of trying out new products, right?

The starter kit contains four (4) products: Foam Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer, and Ato Salt Cream.

The first step is to wash your face with Foam Cleanser. Just a pea size of this watery gel cleanser surely kept my skin smooth and clean. This will ensure that the next products will be absorbed by the skin. The scent is notably very pleasing.

The next step is to apply the clear watery Toner on the skin either using a cotton pad or by hand. For economical reasons, I used my fingers to apply it to my face to ensure that every drop is absorbed by the skin. This is the first level of moisturization. The toner ensures that the Moisturizer or the Ato Salt Cream stays in place and does not easily wipe out when used with other ingredients. This step will make your skin “ready” and compatible with the next products. It has the same scent as the cleanser.

For the third step, you will either use the Moisturizer in the morning or the Ato Salt Cream at night.

The Moisturizer will keep your skin moisturized all day. Maybe you need to re-apply if you are constantly or unconsciously rubbing parts of your face. I’m very satisfied with how it moisturizes my face. It feels very lightweight while hydrating your skin. I tried wearing it alone and with my favorite cream foundation, both with great results but I prefer wearing it alone in the office. It also has the same pleasing but not overpowering scent.

The Ato Salt Cream is thick and a small amount will do to moisturize your face all night. How does it differ from the Moisturizer? It contains 8% of Dead Sea Salt known to relieve Atopic skin. This is tested on Atopic Eczema skin and impressively improved skin hydration and eliminated flaky skin in 4 weeks. There is no fragrance added to this cream.

After using Dr.  Belmeur Daily Repair Starter Kit for two (2) weeks, I can say that I can rely on this product to manage my dry sensitive skin this season. The only thing that’s missing is a sunscreen and I’m all set. I also had a chance to use it in hot weather and I don’t recommend that you do the same. This product is best used in cold weather or whenever you are exposed to air conditioning. You can buy the starter kit from all branches of The Face Shop at 695Php. I think the starter kit will last for 2 months. I will continue to try other products but for now, they are officially part of my skin care regimen.
