A health condition or a call for a healthier lifestyle needs a special type of diet. Most diets include a low- carb and a sugar-free diet. Those who have diabetes, cancer, renal failures, and other diseases call for these kinds of diet. I myself is on a low-carb, sugar-free diet while on Keto.
Good thing, a group of young entrepreneurs have decided to develop bread alternatives for those whose dietary requirements need special attention. They started out as suppliers for some of the major hospitals in the Metro. They were surprised that the price of their bread on the hospitals was quite high due to several administrative fees. That’s when they created the “Hearty Bread” to make healthy bread readily available and affordable to everyone.
Why Gluten-free?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. A gluten-free diet is quite a trend but people with celiac disease and wheat allergies are advised to follow this diet. It is crucial to avoid gluten for a person with celiac disease to prevent damaging their small intestines that limit its ability to absorb nutrients.
Why Sugar-free?
Filipinos are at risk of getting diabetes due to unhealthy lifestyle habits. A high intake of white rice might result in a higher risk of diabetes. Sugar and carbohydrates lead to accumulating excess weight over time. Cancer cells feed on sugar, thus less sugar might help lower the growth of cancer cells.

Almond Loafs
The Almond loaf line includes the Ezekiel Bread Loaf, Charcoal Cheesy Almond Loaf, and the Coffee Cheesy Almond Loaf.
The Charcoal Cheesy Almond Loaf retails at 250Php. Topped with melted cheese and tastes salty just like the Ezekiel Loaf. These are my healthy options for a tasty cheat day. But really it feels weird to eat the Charcoal Cheesy Almond because you are literally eating activated charcoal. Anyway, it tastes good but beware of black stains in between your teeth.
Sourdough/Probiotic Loafs
Sourdough bread is made by the fermentation of dough using naturally occurring lactobacilli and yeast. Sourdough bread has a more sour taste. It has better inherent keeping qualities than breads made with baker’s yeast due to the lactic acid produced by the lactobacilli. (Wikipedia)
The Sourdough/Probiotic loaf line includes the Premium Sourdough, Multigrain Sourdough, and Moringa Sourdough Pandesal.
Fruit Loafs
The Fruit loaf line includes the Banana Sourdough, Pumpkin Carrot Sourdough Loaf, and Banoffee Walnut Sourdough Loaf.
These loaves are sweetened by stevia. The Banoffee Walnut is way sweeter than the Pumpkin Carrot but the walnuts balance the taste. I do recommend the Banoffee Walnut for the sweet tooth while the Pumpkin Carrot can be a nice dessert for the elderly and adults.
What I love about these Hearty Bread products is that it has a product information sheet that shows the ingredients and the nutrition value for each product. Or alternatively, you can scan the QR code for more details.
