5 Steps to Keep Skin Moisturized While Healing From Sunburn

So you’re back from your summer getaway and now you’re thinking about your sunburn and dark skin. How will I get my skin tone back? How do I relieve prickly dry skin?

I’m sure you armed yourselves with sunblock and other products to help you fight the sun’s harmful rays and further skin damage. If you’re fond of spending your getaway on a pool, then you are exposed to chlorine. Do you know that chlorine can make your skin darker? How are we going to deal with that?

So early this month I had my summer getaways and learned about how I will keep my skin protected from sunburn, dryness and too much darkening since I’m using whitening products. I will share with you the things I did AFTER swimming in the pool and being exposed in the sun. I’m sure you know the drill of applying and re-applying sunblock before dipping in the pool or beach.

Rinse and apply after sun gel

This might be considered an optional step but this is actually something we SHOULD do after swimming and sun exposure. After sun gels help to soothe our skin from sunburn and inflammation. It will also lock up moisture in our skin to avoid dryness and roughness. Some may come with cooling effect or simply a relaxing menthol scent.

I used Belo Sunexpert After Sun Gel and it made my skin moisturized and soothed with its menthol scent.

Use soothing and hydrating lotion

This step will ensure that your skin will not itch and dry which might further lead to skin damage when you start to scratch and peel your dry skin.

I’m using Jergens Soothing Aloe that is soothing and hydrating in one. I’m actually using this whenever I have to deal with itchy and dry skin. I will write a review of this product soon. 😉

Apply a burn relief/moisturizing facial mask

This will keep your face moisturized all night and keep your skin smooth and hydrated

I’m using Burn Relief Glacier Aqua Gel Facial Mask from Miniso. No need to rinse, just let it dry and get smooth skin all night. It’s cooling effect really feels good. I’ll post my review of this product very soon. 😉

These steps are actually focused on keeping your skin moisturized while healing from sunburn. You should do this for 2-3 days.

Use your regular moisturizing lotion and cream

After 2-3 days of healing and keeping your skin moisturized, continue to use your favourite moisturizing lotion and creams. Maybe you need to give up your mattes for the meantime, focus on moisturizing your skin. There are products that offer moisturization and tint at the same time as Belo Sunexpert Tinted Sunscreen.

My regular moisturizing and whitening set is SeeSea Dead Sea Minerals products. These products keep my skin moisturized and smooth as it gently whitens my skin.

Continue with your skin care routine and start using regular whitening products (make sure its gentle without intense whitening or peeling)

Be gentle with your skin. Do not jump into intense whitening or peeling products while you’re still healing or just recently recovered from skin damage. For me, this matters because I have sensitive skin.

I’m back on my skincare routine after these steps and started to get back my skin tone with the help of my lotion and creams. I’m also using Jinju White soap for 2 weeks now and I can say I’ve seen the results in 2 weeks as promised. My skin lightened and is almost back to my normal skin tone. I’ll write a review of this product soon. 😉
