4 Reasons Why You Should Attend Workshops
I and my blogger friends had a chance to attend a workshop, the Lip Color 101 Workshop, and it made me realize that attending a workshop is really worth your time and money. It is indeed an investment that everyone should consider and here are a few reasons why you should.
1. You learn more than what you get from DIY posts.
If you’re a fan of DIYs and you feel great when you create your own products, attending workshops will help to further increase your knowledge and enthusiasm to learn a certain craft. Do you remember each time you ask yourself about a lot of things while following DIY instructions? In a workshop, you get to learn different techniques (basic and new ones) and dig into every detail that is essential to complete a project. You also get a chance to learn tips and tricks from the facilitator and the other attendees. Here, you may ask questions and get an immediate response.
I love reading DIYs but I lack the motivation to make things happen. After attending the Lip Color 101 workshop, it made me feel like pursuing my dream of having my own line of skincare/cosmetics because I was able to experience hands-on exercises with complete tools and proper guidance.
2. You meet other people and learn from them, too.
In a workshop, you will meet different people with the same goal. Attendees can be business owners, practitioners who want to learn more about their craft and others are newbies who want to explore or start a new business. As you go on with the workshop, a lot of them will share their experiences, ups and downs, and how they managed to get through each challenge as they go along the process.
3. You become part of a community that inspires you
At the end of the workshop, you will notice that you are now part of a community. A community where you can ask for advice, learn new techniques, share different stories of success and failures. You will feel a boost of energy and motivation when you surround yourself with people who are working so hard to reach their goals. It will encourage you to do the same, continue to grow and unleash your creativity.
I’m so amazed in this community created by Ms.Cyrille because everyone is so active and very approachable. They are open to ideas and celebrates each member’s success. As a budding entrepreneur, it really helps when members talk about good suppliers, where to buy ingredients and so on.
OK, what is expected of me when I attend a workshop?
Participate. Do the exercises and make sure that you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.
Ask questions. This is where you learn things proven by experience.
Listen. Not everything is in the handout, stay alert or you’ll miss the most important ingredient.
Take notes. This is something you can read over and over again to remind you that “hey, you gotta get moving!”
What’s Next after the workshop?
Practice. Apply what you learn, and learn how to do it right.
Discover new things. What you learned in the workshop is just a speck of what you can do to reach your goals.
Get down to business. Start earning while doing your passion. You may start sharing your knowledge or solve a problem that will benefit your target market.
Keep going and don’t give up.
